350,000 MARITIME PASSENGERS MONITORED BY PCG POST-ELECTION

The Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) monitored approximately 350,000 maritime passengers nationwide the day after the midterm elections.

A total of 190,115 outbound passengers and 159,551 inbound passengers were logged on Tuesday, along with inspections of 1,461 vessels and 1,405 motor bancas.

Compared to the previous day, outbound passengers decreased by 30%, while inbound passengers dropped by 18%.

The number of inspected vessels increased by 10%, while the inspected motor bancas decreased by 7%.

The PCG’s monitoring efforts were part of the Department of Transportation’s ‘OPLAN Biyahen Ayos,’ with heightened alert status in place from May 9 to 13 to manage election-related travel.
