House of Representatives employees have reportedly stopped wearing their uniforms in public to avoid ridicule amid public outrage over alleged flood control fund anomalies.
Speaker Faustino Dy III confirmed during Monday’s flag-raising ceremony that some staff members remove their uniforms before commuting to escape humiliation from angry citizens.
Dy admitted that public trust in the House is at its “lowest” following corruption reports implicating some lawmakers, including former Speaker Martin Romualdez and resigned Rep. Zaldy Co.
He urged employees and legislators to work together to rebuild credibility through transparency, accountability, and genuine public service.
Despite the controversy, the House is set to approve the proposed 2026 national budget on second reading this week and finalize it by October 13.
