SOLO PARENT ID REGISTRATION, RENEWAL TO BE MADE EASIER UNDER NEW BILL

Parañaque 2nd District Rep. Brian Raymund Yamsuan has filed House Bill No. 4034, which seeks to simplify the registration and renewal of Solo Parent Identification Cards (SPIC) through an online system.

The proposed Online Registration and Renewal for Solo Parents Act aims to streamline the process, making it faster, more convenient, and less costly for single parents, thereby saving them time and transportation expenses.

The bill proposes amendments to the Expanded Solo Parents’ Welfare Act, allowing the Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT) and the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) to develop and manage the online system.

Solo parents holding an SPIC are entitled to benefits such as discounts on essential goods and services, educational scholarships for their children, and priority in government livelihood programs.

Yamsuan emphasized that the online system would help many solo parents access their benefits, as some currently spend up to ₱700 just to obtain or renew their ID.
