SENATE INVESTIGATION INTO POGO AND GUO CASE APPROACHING FINAL STAGE

The Senate is concluding its yearlong investigation into illegal Philippine offshore gaming operators (POGOs), with Sen. Risa Hontiveros stating that the inquiry into dismissed Bamban mayor Alice Guo’s involvement is the final chapter.

Guo, whose alleged fake Filipino citizenship has come under scrutiny, was linked to the raided POGO hub Zun Yuan Technology during her term.

The investigation has intensified following claims from confessed Chinese spy She Zhijiang, who alleged Guo’s connections to the Chinese Communist Party.

Meanwhile, the Senate plans to invite POGO kingpin Lin Xunhan for questioning after his recent arrest, while the Department of Justice has extended the deadline for POGO foreign workers to downgrade their visas until today.

Concerns have been raised about the continued illegal activities of POGOs, as many Filipinos involved in operations are reportedly evading accountability.
