President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. dismissed the Supreme Court petition challenging the 2025 national budget as part of a destabilization effort against his administration.
He expressed confidence in the government’s legal position, citing assurances from Solicitor General Menardo Guevarra, but warned that there was no alternative plan if the court invalidated the budget.
The petition, filed by former Executive Secretary Vic Rodriguez and Davao Rep. Isidro Ungab, alleges that the budget contained “blank spaces” when ratified by Congress, making it unconstitutional.
Marcos rejected these claims, insisting that he reviewed the 4,057-page General Appropriations Act and found no irregularities.
He also criticized former President Rodrigo Duterte for spreading misinformation about the budget, saying such blank spaces “do not exist” and are not legally allowed.
