House Assistant Minority Leader Rep. Christopher Sheen Gonzales has assured the timely release of ₱955 million allocated for the World Teachers’ Day Incentive Benefit (WTDIB).
Over 950,000 public school teachers under the Department of Education are set to receive the ₱1,000 incentive on October 5.
The funding is included as a line item in the 2025 General Appropriations Law, with a special provision to guarantee its release.
Gonzales, a member of the House Committees on Appropriations and Basic Education, also co-filed a bill seeking to triple the benefit to ₱3,000 and make it permanent.
The WTDIB honors teachers’ crucial role and is celebrated annually on October 5, recognized as National Teachers’ Day in the Philippines.
