Quezon City has officially launched its bid to be recognized as a UNESCO Creative City of Film, aiming to highlight its rich cinematic history and commitment to film industry development.
Known as the “City of Stars,” Quezon City boasts a legacy that includes influential figures and major film studios from the golden era of Philippine cinema.
Today, it remains a central hub for filmmaking in the country, with numerous production companies, broadcast networks, and cinemas contributing significantly to local film revenues.
Mayor Joy Belmonte and the Quezon City Film Development Commission lead the bid, aligning with the Philippine Creative Economy Roadmap 2030 and enhancing the city’s global reputation and industry standards.
The city invites support for its application, which is part of a collaborative effort to advance its role in the global film community.
