The National Unity Party (NUP) announced plans to file an ethics complaint against Cavite Rep. Kiko Barzaga for alleged misconduct on social media, including inciting violence, posting lewd content, and flaunting wealth.
Deputy Speaker Ronaldo Puno said Barzaga’s behavior was reckless and unbecoming of a lawmaker, adding that it degrades standards in the House of Representatives.
The complaint comes after Barzaga posted controversial remarks, including a warning not to set Congress on fire and accusations of corruption against Speaker Martin Romualdez.
Puno also revealed that Barzaga barged into Majority Leader Sandro Marcos’ office to announce his bid for the speakership, shocking those present.
Barzaga resigned from the NUP amid the controversy, but dismissed Puno’s statements as mistaken.
