Demonstrators protesting alleged corruption in government infrastructure projects gathered at Rizal Park and other Manila areas, swelling to about 50,000 by late morning on September 21.
The Manila Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (MDRRMO) reported the crowd grew from 300 early in the morning to nearly 49,000 by 11 a.m.
Protesters, including individuals like Jim Maramba from Quezon City, expressed their desire to hold the government accountable.
Manila was placed under Red Alert due to the large turnout and the threat of Typhoon Nando, with around 3,000 security personnel deployed to maintain order.
Authorities continue to monitor the situation to ensure public safety during the ongoing rally.
