The Philippines will host the maiden U19 Asian Sepak Takraw Championship from November 18 to 25 at Rizal Memorial Coliseum in Manila.
Pilipinas Sepak Takraw President Karen Caballero expressed pride in welcoming young athletes from across Asia, highlighting Filipino hospitality for the event’s international guests.
Philippine Sports Commission chief Pato Gregorio said 12 to 16 countries are expected to participate, with over 600 foreign players competing in regu, quad, and mixed quadrant events.
Muhammad Fariq of the Asian Sepak Takraw Federation emphasized the tournament’s role in developing the next generation of athletes and leaders in the sport.
Gregorio also noted plans to open a regional sepak takraw training center in Bukidnon to further promote the sport in the country and Southeast Asia.
