POPE LEO SELECTS A PRIEST AS BOAC’S NEXT BISHOP

Pope Leo XIV has appointed Edwin Oracion Panergo as the new bishop of the Diocese of Boac in Marinduque, which has been without a bishop since November 2024.

Panergo, a priest from the Diocese of Lucena, replaces Bishop Marcelino Maralit Jr., who was transferred to the Diocese of San Pablo last year.

While the Boac bishopric was vacant, Diocesan Administrator Elino Esplana managed the diocese.

Panergo currently serves as rector of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Seminary and leads the Diocese of Lucena’s Commission on Vocation.

He was ordained in 1997 and holds advanced degrees in theology, guidance, and counseling.
