The Philippine National Police (PNP) will boost coordination with telecom companies and social media platforms to curb the spread of bomb threat hoaxes.
Acting PNP chief Lt. Gen. Jose Melencio Nartatez, Jr. directed the Anti-Cybercrime Group to work with the DICT, telcos, and platform administrators to trace and block accounts spreading false threats.
Nartatez warned that using social media or messaging apps to issue bomb threats is punishable by law, and those responsible will face charges.
The reminder came after a hoax threat disrupted classes at Davao Wisdom Academy on October 22.
Police confirmed the threat was false after a thorough inspection by explosive ordnance disposal and canine units.
