PHILIPPINES APPOINTS RAYMOND BALATBAT AS AMBASSADOR TO SAUDI ARABIA

President Marcos has appointed Raymond Balatbat as the new Philippine ambassador to Saudi Arabia, also covering Yemen. Balatbat, currently the ambassador to Lebanon, awaits confirmation from the Commission on Appointments (CA).

Saudi Arabia is the Philippines’ third-largest source of remittances from overseas Filipino workers, with over 700,000 workers sending $2.1 billion in 2023.

Additionally, Commodore Francisco Tagamolila Jr. has been nominated for promotion to rear admiral and will lead Naval Forces Western Mindanao.

The CA is reviewing these appointments and invites public feedback on the appointees’ competence and integrity.
