Filipino youth have issued a 12-point National Youth Statement calling for stronger climate action ahead of COP30 in Brazil.
The recommendations, reflecting the voices of 38.5 million children, urge the government to adopt inclusive, accountable, and transformative climate policies.
The statement was developed through regional Local Conferences for Youth (LCOY) organized by UNICEF Philippines, the National Youth Commission, and youth networks.
Key proposals include localizing climate adaptation plans, protecting youth environmental defenders, advancing climate-resilient schools, and ensuring transparent climate finance.
Government agencies have committed to bringing these youth recommendations to the COP30 negotiations, emphasizing that resilience must prioritize equity, justice, and inclusive decision-making.
