The Philippine Foundation for Vaccination (PFV) urged stronger, coordinated action to combat meningitis in the country on World Meningitis Day 2025.
The call comes as the world marks the midpoint of the WHO’s Global Roadmap to Defeat Meningitis by 2030, aiming to eliminate epidemics worldwide.
The Philippines ranks high in meningitis cases globally and in the Asia-Pacific region, with many cases underreported and diagnosed late, especially among young children.
PFV leaders emphasized the importance of early diagnosis, survivor support, and protecting children in their first 1,000 days of life to prevent lifelong effects.
Partner GSK Philippines highlighted the need for a whole-of-society approach to improve detection, health programs, and local-global partnerships against meningitis.
