The Department of Health announced that the Philippine Heart Center has launched its National Academy for Cardiac and Vascular Surgery to train world-class cardiac and vascular surgeons.
The move aims to address the rising cases of cardiovascular diseases, which remain the leading cause of death in the Philippines.
The academy will expand specialized surgical training beyond Metro Manila and strengthen regional capacity for advanced cardiac care.
PHC officials said the institution will produce surgeons equipped with technical expertise, compassion, and integrity.
Partnering with several regional medical centers, the academy seeks to ensure Filipinos nationwide have access to high-quality cardiovascular care.
