President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. announced that the Philippine Space Agency (PhilSA) will collaborate with Japan’s space agency, JAXA, to enhance disaster response, agricultural planning, and community safety using space technology.
He emphasized that advanced satellites will enable faster typhoon detection, more effective disaster response, and improved support for farmers.
The announcement came after he met with JAXA officials in Osaka during his four-day working visit to Japan.
The Presidential Communications Office noted that JAXA has been a long-time partner in advancing Philippine space capabilities, including the successful launch of satellites like DIWATA and MAYA.
JAXA, Japan’s national space agency, continues to lead in international cooperation in aerospace research and innovation.
