The Philippine and Indian navies successfully concluded their first-ever bilateral Maritime Cooperative Activity (MCA) in the West Philippine Sea, marking a significant step in defense cooperation.
The joint sail from Aug. 3 to 5 spanned from Masinloc, Zambales, to Cabra Island, Lubang, with key drills including air defense exercises and naval maneuvers.
The Philippine Navy deployed BRP Jose Rizal and BRP Miguel Malvar, while India sent three warships, two helicopters, and support vessels.
AFP chief Gen. Romeo Brawner Jr. hailed the activity as a success and expressed hope for future engagements with India.
The AFP emphasized that the joint sail reflects both nations’ commitment to a peaceful and secure Indo-Pacific region.
