The PDP-Laban party criticized Senate Minority Leader Koko Pimentel for using its name in a letter urging the Senate to act on the impeachment complaint against Vice President Sara Duterte.
The letter, addressed to Senate President Francis Escudero, was signed by Pimentel, who identified himself as a member of PDP-Laban.
However, the party split into two factions due to disagreements over former President Duterte’s stance on the West Philippine Sea and corruption allegations.
Duterte’s faction condemned Pimentel’s actions, pointing out that the Commission on Elections had ruled their group as the legitimate PDP-Laban.
Pimentel defended his use of the party name, arguing the Comelec ruling is still pending before the Supreme Court while claiming he had not been formally expelled from the party.
