Navotas Rep. Toby Tiangco renewed his call for the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) to cancel the passport of resigned Ako Bicol Party-list Rep. Zaldy Co amid investigations into alleged misuse of public funds in flood control projects.
Tiangco urged the DFA to compel Co to return to the Philippines and face a subpoena from the Independent Commission for Infrastructure (ICI) for an October 14 hearing on the scandal.
Co resigned from the House of Representatives in late September following accusations linking him to irregular budget insertions and flood control project anomalies.
His whereabouts are currently unknown, with Co citing medical treatment in the U.S. as his reason for absence.
Tiangco emphasized the urgency of canceling Co’s passport to prevent him from evading accountability, echoing former Ombudsman Conchita Carpio-Morales’ concerns over the lack of action during previous House leadership.
