Agustina Bantiloc, who finished last among 28 archers in the women’s individual compound open ranking phase at the 17th Paralympic Games, is preparing for a crucial Olympic round on Friday.
Despite compiling a season-best 618 points at the Les Invalides archery range, Bantiloc recognized the need for sharp mental focus to improve her performance.
Turkey’s Oznur Cure Girdi topped the ranking phase with a world-record score of 704 points, surpassing the previous record of 698.
Bantiloc, a wheelchair-bound athlete who qualified for these Games despite a debilitating childhood injury, may face Brazil’s fifth-ranked Jane Gogel in the round of 16.
Coach Jonathan Josol emphasized the importance of concentration in archery, noting that Bantiloc’s success will hinge on her ability to stay focused.
