PAGASA WARNS ‘NANDO’ MAY INTENSIFY INTO SUPER TYPHOON NEAR NORTHERN LUZON

Tropical Depression Nando is slowly moving over the Philippine Sea and may intensify into a super typhoon as it approaches Northern Luzon, according to PAGASA.

The weather agency forecasts Nando to strengthen into a typhoon by Saturday and possibly reach super typhoon status while passing through Extreme Northern Luzon.

Residents and disaster offices in high-risk areas are urged to prepare and follow local evacuation orders.

Although no Tropical Cyclone Wind Signal has been raised yet, PAGASA warned that Signal No. 1 could be hoisted as early as Saturday, with the possibility of Signal No. 5 if it reaches super typhoon strength.

Nando is also expected to enhance the Southwest Monsoon, bringing strong winds, heavy rains, and rough seas to Luzon and parts of the Visayas.
