The Philippine weather bureau, Pagasa, has warned of heavy rainfall, flooding, and landslides in Metro Manila, parts of Visayas, and Mindanao due to a low-pressure area (LPA) and the southwest monsoon.
The LPA, located east of Virac, Catanduanes, is expected to bring scattered rains and thunderstorms to several regions, including Bicol and Eastern Visayas.
The southwest monsoon will also cause widespread rain, affecting areas such as Metro Manila, Mimaropa, Central Luzon, and Mindanao.
Some areas, including Palawan and Batangas, could receive up to 200 millimeters of rain, increasing the risk of flooding in low-lying and urban areas.
Pagasa reminded the public to focus on rainfall volume and take precautions, regardless of whether the LPA develops into a tropical cyclone.
