Ombudsman Jesus Crispin Remulla has ordered 99 recently hired officials of the Office of the Ombudsman to submit courtesy resignations within seven days.
The directive covers appointees from May 29 to July 27, including assistant ombudsmen, directors, graft investigation officers, and assistant special prosecutors.
Their monthly salaries range from P111,727 to P180,492, with some lower-ranked employees also encouraged to resign.
Remulla cited concerns over “midnight appointments” made shortly before his predecessor’s retirement, noting some hires were inexperienced lawyers who could affect staff morale.
The officials are to continue performing their duties while the Civil Service Commission assists in reviewing the resignations.
