OLYMPIC CHAMPION DIAZ TO BE INDUCTED INTO PSA HALL OF FAME

Hidilyn Diaz, the weightlifting icon from Zamboanga City, is set to be inducted into the Philippine Sportswriters Association (PSA) Hall of Fame for her remarkable achievements in sports.

Diaz made history by winning the Philippines’ first Olympic gold medal in nearly a century at the 2020 Tokyo Games, capping off a stellar career that began in her small hometown.

The 33-year-old will receive the prestigious honor during the San Miguel Corporation-PSA Awards Night on January 27, where she will share the stage with fellow Olympic gold medalist Carlos Yulo.

Diaz’s induction into the Hall of Fame is a recognition of her groundbreaking achievements, including golds in the World Championships, Asian Championships, and SEA Games.

Her journey from using makeshift barbells as a child to becoming an Olympic champion has made her a celebrated figure in Philippine sports.
