OFFICIALS URGE NATIONAL ACTION AS BULACAN WATER WOES WORSEN

Bulacan Governor Daniel Fernando has proposed revoking joint venture agreements with PrimeWater Infrastructure Corp. (PWIC) due to widespread complaints of poor water service in Calumpit, Malolos City, Marilao, and San Jose del Monte City.

Vice Governor Alex Castro confirmed the Sangguniang Panlalawigan is reviewing the contracts for potential violations, urging national intervention since PrimeWater is beyond local jurisdiction.

San Jose Del Monte Water District (SJDMWD) has already moved to terminate its agreement with PWIC, citing a water crisis and resident outcry.

In response, Mayor Arthur Robes deployed city-operated water lorries and explored new partnerships with Maynilad and other providers.

Barangay leaders thanked local officials, including Rep. Florida Robes, for addressing the crisis and championing House Bill 1495, which aims to set national water service standards.
