EJ Obiena secured another gold medal at the 12th Asian Indoor Athletics Championships on Saturday in Tianjin, China, continuing his stellar run after a recent victory in Germany.
The Olympic pole vaulter cleared 5.70 meters to claim the top podium spot, defeating China’1s Li Chenyang, who failed to match the height in three attempts.
Obiena also outperformed other competitors, including China’s Chen Yang, Thailand’s Amsamang Patsapong, and Japan’s Ejima Masaki.
Although he attempted 5.80 meters, Obiena could not clear it, but his earlier jump had already secured the championship.
This victory follows his bronze finish at the ISTAF Indoor Düsseldorf, highlighting a strong start to his 2026 season.
