The Philippine National Police (PNP) vowed there would be no exemptions in its investigation into the murder of former Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office (PCSO) board secretary Wesley Barayuga.
PNP public information chief Brig. Gen. Jean Fajardo emphasized the case’s priority, alongside reopening investigations into over 6,000 anti-narcotics operations during the Duterte administration.
Two witnesses implicated former PCSO general manager Royina Garma and former National Police Commission commissioner Edilberto Leonardo in Barayuga’s murder.
Separate investigations by the PNP and the National Bureau of Investigation are underway, with the PNP Criminal Investigation and Detection Group ready to file cases.
Meanwhile, PNP chief Gen. Rommel Marbil called for legislation to restructure the PNP for faster decision-making and improved accountability.
