World Boxing Council (WBC) minimumweight champion Melvin Jerusalem is setting his sights on a rematch with Puerto Rican Oscar Collazo, who previously defeated him and now holds the WBO and WBA titles.
Before that, Jerusalem must first overcome South Africa’s Siyakholwa Kuse in tonight’s “Thrilla in Manila 2” at the Araneta Coliseum, commemorating the 50th anniversary of the Ali-Frazier classic.
Jerusalem and Kuse both weighed in at 104.8 pounds for their 12-round clash. Promoter JC Mananquil vowed that Jerusalem would “avenge his defeat” against Collazo after this fight.
Meanwhile, fellow Filipino champion Pedro Taduran, fresh from defending his IBF crown, also expressed his desire to face the unbeaten Collazo next.
