President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. has urged Congress to prioritize four key reform bills, including the anti-political dynasty measure, the Partylist System Reform Act, the Independent People’s Commission Act, and the Cadena Act, to institutionalize transparency, accountability, and better governance.
The anti-dynasty bill seeks to bar relatives of incumbent officials from running for national posts, while the Partylist Reform Act aims to ensure genuine representation and reduce corruption in the party-list system.
The Independent People’s Commission would have powers to investigate anomalies in infrastructure projects, including freezing assets and blacklisting erring contractors, and the Cadena Act mandates digital disclosure of all budget-related documents.
Marcos’ push follows previous directives to make the 2026 General Appropriations Act corruption-free and realign funds from flood control projects to social programs.
With Ledac’s support, Congress is expected to begin committee deliberations and technical working groups to fast-track the passage of these long-stalled reform measures.
