President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. said the national budget can adequately fund priority programs over the next three years if public funds are used properly and corruption is eliminated.
He highlighted cases where corruption caused infrastructure projects to deliver only partial results despite full funding, such as classrooms being underbuilt while funds were pocketed.
Marcos emphasized that strict oversight and proper use of funds would ensure resources benefit the Filipino people as intended.
He also addressed concerns about the country’s PHP17.27 trillion debt, explaining it is an investment to grow national assets, particularly the Filipino workforce, which he called the country’s greatest asset.
Marcos reaffirmed his commitment to investing in education and training to boost labor competitiveness alongside ongoing efforts to fight corruption.
