MARCOS EXPANDS WALANG GUTOM PROGRAM TO REACH 600K FAMILIES IN 2025

President Marcos expressed optimism that hunger rates will continue to drop with the expansion of the Walang Gutom Program through the new REFUEL project, which aims to tackle food insecurity and undernutrition.

The initiative will double the number of food-poor households receiving monthly ₱3,000 electronic food credits from 300,000 to 600,000 next year, with plans to reach one million families by 2027.

Marcos cited survey data showing hunger among beneficiaries dropped from 48.7% in October 2023 to 41.5% in March 2025.

The President thanked international partners, including the Asian Development Bank and the OPEC Fund, for supporting the program. He reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to improving the quality of life for poor Filipino families.
