MALACAÑANG RESPONDS TO POSSIBLE MARCOS IMPEACHMENT FILING

Malacañang on Monday assured the public that President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. will face any charges if an impeachment case against him proceeds.

The statement by PCO Undersecretary Claire Castro responded to reports that some lawmakers, led by Caloocan Rep. Edgar Erice, plan to file an impeachment complaint citing alleged betrayal of public trust over anomalous flood control projects and the 2026 General Appropriations Act.

Castro emphasized that the president respects the Constitution and the process, and noted that he is actively investigating the disputed flood control projects.

She also dismissed claims linking Marcos to misused funds, pointing out there is no evidence he personally benefited, including references to “Mary Grace Piattos” in confidential fund receipts.

Castro characterized the impeachment talks as political maneuvering by supporters of Vice President Sara Duterte and urged them to address their own issues before targeting the president.
