Senator Francis Tolentino is set to launch the LITAW program, a disaster relief initiative designed to provide immediate and comprehensive assistance to calamity-stricken Filipino families.
LITAW, which stands for “liwanag (light), internet, tubig (water), assistance, and welfare,” focuses on restoring electricity, internet connectivity, and clean water while delivering financial aid to affected communities.
The program also aims to establish sustainable disaster response infrastructure to ensure long-term resilience.
Set to roll out this month in disaster-prone regions, the initiative is part of Tolentino’s vision to institutionalize it as a key element of the country’s disaster management framework.
Tolentino emphasized that the program seeks not only to offer relief but also to empower families to rebuild with dignity and resilience.
