The La Mesa Dam in Quezon City continues to overflow amid persistent rains from the enhanced southwest monsoon or habagat, with water levels surpassing its normal high of 80.15 meters.
Pagasa hydrologist Ailene Abelardo said the dam’s current level is 80.17 meters, still spilling into the Tullahan River but with reduced flood pressure.
To manage excess water, at least seven gates were opened in three other major Luzon dams—Ambuklao, Binga, and Ipo.
Ambuklao and Binga Dams in Benguet released high volumes through six gates each, while Ipo Dam in Bulacan opened one gate with an outflow of 112.5 cms.
Angat Dam remains well below its spilling level, ensuring continued supply for Metro Manila and nearby provinces.
