INVESTIGATION UNDERWAY: PNP LOOKS INTO DRUG WAR ‘QUOTA’ CLAIMS

The Philippine National Police (PNP) has launched a thorough review of former lieutenant colonel Jovie Espenido’s allegations regarding a “quota” and “reward” system in the anti-drug campaign Oplan Double Barrel, which was carried out under the previous administration.

PNP chief Gen. Rommel Francisco Marbil underscored the seriousness of these claims and promised a comprehensive investigation.

The review panel, led by the Office of the Deputy Chief PNP for Operations and including various oversight bodies, will scrutinize the campaign’s human rights practices, operational protocols, and accountability measures.

Marbil emphasized the need to ensure past operations comply with legal and ethical standards.

The review aims to uphold the rule of law and respect human dignity in future anti-drug efforts.
