The International Criminal Court’s Appeals Chamber will announce its judgment on former President Rodrigo Duterte’s challenge to the prosecutor’s jurisdiction on April 22 at 7 p.m. Manila time.
The decision involves judges Luz del Carmen Ibáñez Carranza, Tomoko Akane, Solomy Balungi Bossa, Gocha Lordkipanidze, and Erdenebalsuren Damdin.
Duterte’s camp initially had its challenge rejected on October 23, 2025, after the ICC cited the Philippines’ withdrawal from the Rome Statute.
The defense filed a Notice of Appeal and submitted its Appeal Brief on Jurisdiction in November 2025.
Duterte is currently facing crimes against humanity charges at the Hague, following ICC judges’ confirmation of the case in February 2026.
