The return of dismissed Bamban, Tarlac Mayor Alice Guo to the Philippines could be delayed by Indonesia’s request for a prisoner swap, according to Justice Secretary Crispin Remulla.
Guo, arrested in Jakarta, is wanted in the Philippines for human trafficking and links to Chinese crime syndicates.
At the same time, Indonesia seeks to exchange her for a high-profile drug suspect arrested in Cebu.
President Marcos vowed to hold accountable those who helped Guo flee the country, promising swift justice.
Guo’s arrest came after a coordinated effort between Filipino and Indonesian authorities.
She faces multiple charges, including human trafficking, graft, and money laundering.
