The government’s ₱20 rice subsidy program is now available in all 82 provinces, fulfilling a key campaign promise of President Marcos to make rice more affordable.
The Department of Agriculture (DA) launched the final rollout in Maguindanao del Norte, covering remote and conflict-affected towns such as Barira, Buldon, and Matanog.
Nationwide, 429 sites are now selling ₱20 rice, benefiting over 1.2 million Filipinos, with priority given to vulnerable sectors including senior citizens, PWDs, 4Ps beneficiaries, and minimum-wage workers.
The program sources rice from the National Food Authority and subsidizes the price difference, with plans to reach 15 million households by next year.
Agriculture officials emphasized that the initiative aims to boost food security, support local farmers, and ensure a steady, affordable rice supply until the end of Marcos’ term in 2028.
