GO SEEKS ₱12B SHIFT FROM FLOOD CONTROL TO SENIORS’ PENSIONS.

Senator Bong Go urged the government on Monday to divert ₱8 to ₱12 billion from the 2026 flood control budget to cover unpaid social pensions for indigent senior citizens.

He said thousands of qualified elderly Filipinos remain waitlisted and have not received their monthly pension, despite it being a right under the Expanded Senior Citizens Act of 2010.

Go stressed that further delays in pension distribution betray the government’s duty to protect its most vulnerable citizens.

He added that prioritizing resources for the poor and elderly is more urgent than funding anomalous flood control projects.

Go, who also co-authored the law increasing pensions for indigent seniors, called on officials to ensure programs directly uplift those most in need.
