Young Filipino-American actor Yonas Asunsion Kibreab stars as the voice of Pinocchio in the upcoming steampunk-inspired animated film Pinocchio & the Water of Life.
The story follows Pinocchio and his sidekick Coot as they fight to save their puppet friends from the villainous Faustino, who livestreams their destruction.
Directed by visual effects veteran Victor Lakisov and written by Emmy winner Mark DeCarlo and screenwriter Ryan Rowe, the film is currently in post-production with a planned release later this year.
Yonas praised the animation and called the project a passion, comparing its emotional depth to his work on Pixar’s Elio.
The voice cast also includes well-known talents like James Hong, Tom Kenny, and Phil LaMarr.
