The Association of Boxing Alliances of the Philippines (ABAP) has elected former secretary-general Marcus Manalo as its new president, succeeding Robbie Puno, who will now serve as federation chairman.
Former ABAP chief Ricky Vargas, who stepped down to focus on his role as chef de mission for Team Philippines in the 2028 LA Olympics, will remain as honorary chairman.
Manalo expressed honor and determination to strengthen ABAP’s programs and continue the country’s proud boxing tradition.
The newly elected Board of Trustees includes notable figures such as former congressman Raul Daza as vice chairman, Michael Angelo Vargas as vice president, and two-time Olympic medalist Nesthy Petecio in a bigger role.
The board aims to develop a sustainable national pool of boxing talent through grassroots programs, combining experienced leaders with fresh voices in sports management.
