EX-PNP CHIEF ACORDA: MY DECISIONS WERE FOR THE NATION’S WELFARE

Former Philippine National Police (PNP) chief Gen. Benjamin Acorda Jr. defended his actions after photos surfaced linking him to individuals tied to illegal Philippine offshore gaming operators (POGOs).

Acorda emphasized his commitment to the country and the PNP, stating that his actions were aimed at combating criminal POGO activities, including human trafficking. 

The Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) is investigating rumors that Acorda allegedly helped dismissed Bamban mayor Alice Guo escape the country. 

CIDG Director Maj. Gen. Leo Francisco confirmed the ongoing investigation, including whether other police personnel were involved. 

The investigation is focused on determining who assisted Guo in her escape and verifying the accuracy of the information provided.
