EX-PCSO CHIEF ROYINA GARMA FACES ARREST OVER 2020 MURDER CASE

A Mandaluyong court has issued an arrest warrant against former PCSO general manager Royina Garma, ex-Napolcom commissioner Edilberto Leonardo, and three police officials for the 2020 murder of PCSO board secretary Wesley Barayuga.

Barayuga was shot dead inside his car in Mandaluyong on July 30, 2020, while his driver survived the ambush.

The PNP confirmed that one of the accused officers has been dismissed, another resigned, and one is under holding status, while authorities are verifying reports that some suspects may have fled abroad.

Justice Secretary Jesus Crispin Remulla clarified that Garma’s pending testimony before the International Criminal Court against ex-president Rodrigo Duterte would not be affected by the warrant.

Garma, a retired police colonel, had previously disclosed a reward system tied to Duterte’s war on drugs.
