The European Union (EU) is providing €800,000 (around P54 million) in humanitarian aid to victims of recent typhoons, floods, and the 6.9-magnitude earthquake in Cebu, Philippines.
The funding will support urgent needs, including shelter, health services, water, sanitation, and psychosocial support, especially in the hardest-hit and conflict-affected areas.
This aid is in addition to €6.5 million already allocated by the EU this year for disaster preparedness and response in the country.
The EU also expressed condolences to earthquake victims and pledged to offer further assistance after ongoing needs assessments.
Meanwhile, the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council reported 73 deaths, 559 injuries, and over 366,000 people affected by the Cebu earthquake.
