The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) reaffirmed its commitment to empowering aspiring social workers during a dialogue with students from 11 universities in Central Visayas.
DSWD Secretary Rex Gatchalian, speaking at the University of Cebu-Banilad Campus, encouraged students to uphold compassion and dedication as they prepare to serve vulnerable communities.
The event, themed “Bridging the Gap between Theory and Practice,” highlighted the agency’s support for education and the upcoming launch of the revamped DSWD Academy, offering globally competitive resources.
Gatchalian urged students to complete their degrees, acquire licenses, and help uplift marginalized sectors.
He assured the DSWD’s full backing in providing learning opportunities to strengthen the social work profession.
