The Department of Tourism is finalizing measures to ensure airfare transparency and protect consumers, coordinating with the DOTr, Civil Aeronautics Board, DTI, and the Philippine Competition Commission.
A code of conduct for online travel agencies will promote fair pricing, supported by a public information campaign on cost-efficient travel options.
Lawmakers highlighted airport upgrades in tourism hubs like Siargao, Legazpi, Bohol, and Mati to expand capacity and improve flight frequency.
The recent DOT–DOTr collaboration has also opened new international and domestic routes, increasing travel options for Filipinos.
These initiatives aim to lower domestic airfare, boost tourism, and stimulate regional economic growth, and the DOT’s proposed 2026 budget was approved for plenary consideration.
