The Department of Science and Technology (DOST) launched its 1st National Artificial Intelligence Strategy (Naisph) on Monday, aiming to build an AI-driven future through collaboration among government, industry, academia, and civil society.
DOST Secretary Renato Solidum Jr. emphasized that AI development must be a “whole-of-nation endeavor” to ensure its benefits reach all Filipinos.
The Philippines currently ranks 56th in the 2024 Government AI Relevance Index, highlighting the need to strengthen AI infrastructure.
Since 2017, the country has invested over ₱2.3 billion in 113 AI-related projects, resulting in innovations like AI-powered drones for disaster assessment and agriculture.
By 2028, DOST plans to expand high-performance computing capacity to allow Filipino researchers to develop advanced AI models and compete globally.
