Malaysia has refused to cooperate with the Philippine government’s investigation into the escape of former Bamban, Tarlac mayor Alice Guo, according to Justice Secretary Jesus Crispin Remulla.
He suggested the lack of cooperation could be linked to the ongoing territorial dispute between the two nations over Sabah.
Malaysian authorities have declined to share crucial information, such as flight records and aircraft details related to Guo’s escape to Malaysia.
Despite efforts by the Department of Justice and the Department of Foreign Affairs, the investigation has hit a roadblock.
Remulla also urged Senator Risa Hontiveros to understand the challenges faced by the Bureau of Immigration in resolving the case.
