The Department of Justice has organized 14 flood control fund anomaly cases into three batches based on allegations, contractors, and case progress, with the first batch involving five malversation cases linked to Syms Construction in Bulacan’s 1st district.
The second batch covers six cases involving Wawao Construction and Top Notch Catalyst Builders, including three malversation complaints naming Sen. Joel Villanueva as a respondent, all under preliminary investigation.
The third batch focuses on three high-profile plunder cases against former Ako Bicol Rep. Zaldy Co, former senators Bong Revilla and Jinggoy Estrada, and former DPWH secretary Manuel Bonoan, with subpoenas expected soon.
DOJ officials emphasized the need for careful, methodical investigation due to the complexity of multi-actor corruption cases and interlinked evidence, aiming to complete preliminary proceedings within 60 days.
Assistant Secretary Polo Martinez clarified that no formal complaints have been filed against former senator Nancy Binay or Sen. Francis Escudero despite past legislative mentions.
